Mix Thomas’s Headshot Session

Mix Thomas is in the vanguard of very important work. A Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist, Mix specializes in working with people who identify under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, provides gender affirming care, sperm recipient assessments and letters, and has experience working with victims of trauma.

Their services and care are growing in popularity, and they contacted me for some professional headshots for their new practice. I love working with others that have struck out on their own into the wild frontiers of small business ownership. I think a polished set of images can make all the difference when presenting oneself to a new set of potential clients.

The Looks

We went with a couple different looks; one that leans towards relaxed and another more buttoned up, professional presentation. Both have their uses. The more casual for the website and the more professional for speaking engagements, panel discussions, published works and professional networking collateral.

Mix chose to have their headshot session at the Gateway Media Arts Lab. These sessions are quick and easy since everything is setup before a client arrives. We simply discuss the details of the session, decide on outfits and get to work.

Mix spent a total of about 45 minutes with me at The Lab, and most of that time was spent catching up. We have known each other for a while, and Mix and their partner moved to our neck of the woods at the onset of the Covid pandemic, so it has been a while since we have been able to get together.
