Lohibition Boutique is a cozy shop in Westerly, Rhode Island that specializes in botanicals, bath & body accessories, eclectic art & decor, comfy clothes and innovative elixirs for rest and relation.
Tucked along the Pawcatuck River in what used to be McCormick’s Department Store, shoppers are surrounded by products that cater to their physical and psychological well being.
Owner Lauren “Lo” McGowan is in the process of rebooting Lohibition’s website and was ready for her first series of professional branding photos. We planned to make a collection of images that complement the overall vibe of the store as well as emphasize their best selling products.
Adaptogenic & Nootropic Beverages
The non-alcoholic, flavored soda waters and recovery beverages line the front right wall of the store, and spend most of their day bathed in beautiful sunlight.
Fabrics & Sundries
A wide variety of textiles and wares designed for ultimate comfort. I seriously wanted to just lay down in the store but that would not be acceptable behavior.

This constantly updated central display table featured teas, mixes and alchemy tips.

Beautiful Decor
What follows is one of my favorite “work” photos of the year. The golden interior of the cubes shimmer in the afternoon sunlight. I placed a soft box to my right to subtly illuminate the flowers and vase. A circular polarizer is adding some additional “pop” to the edges of the display case. And it’s beeeeautiful patina. This well worn appearance is earned over time.
This photo was possible because we sat down and had lunch midway through the session. I wouldn’t have noticed the scene if I hadn’t stopped and sat for a bit. It’s so important to stop every once in a while and look for more details. You never know what you’ll find.

The entrance is located on the riverside balcony, overlooking the Pawcatuck River & Bridge. This entrance throws a lot of first time visitors for a loop since it is slightly nearby what looks like a street entrance, so be prepared.
