AEM Staff Headshots
The Washington, D.C. office of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers has been a longtime client of mine, and they were recently in need of a fresh batch of staff headshots. I’m now based in Rhode Island full time, but it was no sweat to tack a team headshot session onto one of my recent client trips to D.C.
I have honed my headshot kit into the absolute essentials; a couple lights and a lens. And a camera, too. Obvi. Anyway. I don’t take up too much space and can turn around some great looking headshots.
The most important part of the process is finding a suitable location and background within the office. White walls are great but, in AEM’s case, they have a perfect deep blue accent wall in one of their conference rooms. This is a beautiful color that would look good on anyone, and is a color I wouldn’t mind having at my disposal all the time (I might buy a roll of similar colored background paper).

Once I am set up & dialed in, staff members came through for posing instructions, headshots & image selections. Heckling or moral support is always encouraged from members of the team that aren’t in front of the camera. The AEM staff was happy to dish both.
All in all, I’m in and out in about an hour and a half and the team has a cohesive series of headshots that portray who they are and their personalities.
